Gesu School offered sports starting around the 2nd grade and running through 8th grade. The school included two gyms, a bowling alley, a pool room and recreation room. There were close ties between the school and Milwaukee's CYO head, Peter Murphy. Many of the tournaments were held at Gesu.

Once a student graduated or turned 13 years old they were allowed to participate in the Catholic Youth Organization (CYO). The CYO had three divisions based on age. Cadets were 16 and younger, Juniors were 17-19, and Seniors were 19-25. Between Gesu School and the CYO, students had the opportunity to participate in basketball, football, baseball, volleyball, fencing, badminton, bowling, wrestling, track and field, and more.
